PROJECT DETAILS
A grid of light in the heart of Moscow
The return to Soviet constructivism
The new Action Development Business Center, which houses the operating and management offices of various companies, is located near Moscow City, the largest business centre in the Russian capital, comprised of 22 residential and tertiary buildings with retail spaces, offices and multifunctional complexes. The perfect place to make business deals, but also a place for people to find entertainment and spend their free time.
The project for the upgrading of the building, developed by the architecture firm UNK Project, has been focused on a precise objective: to emphasise the building, making it immediately recognisable in the skyline. For this reason, a perforated shell in the form of a mesh has been designed that encloses it entirely and refers to the progressive architecture of the 21st century and to the model of Soviet constructivism, with an evident reference to the tower of the engineer Vladimir Shukhov, conceived at the end of the 1922, with the hyperboloid structure, lightweight, yet extremely durable.
SPECTACULAR LIGHTING OF THE FAĆADE
The mesh is a perforated metal frame that encloses the entire building, giving it a unique and easily recognisable appearance. The triangular and angular shape of the building has been covered, eliminating sharp corners by rounding them off. The same feeling of lightness of the structure has been maintained on the half-basement level and in the entrance area through the creation of a canopy placed above the base and supported by inclined columns that play off the arrangement of the general design.
If during daytime hours the building is enhanced by the natural light that reflects on the white metal grid, for the evening hours it was necessary to find the most suitable lighting solution to guarantee a striking effect. The lighting design studio QPRO has opted for LED projectors with narrow beam optics with custom anti-glare and colour temperature 3000K installed on the intersections of the metal grid and painted in the same RAL, so as to perfectly match and ensure an accent lighting without glaring effect during the night hours.
