Affiliated Engineers Inc. (AEI) upgraded their Chicago office lounge with a bold ceiling installation featuring a mix of BLOCK fixtures in both Diffuse and Unlit configurations. Situated in the heart of the Loop, the office balances function and design, and this installation reinforces that approach.
Designed in collaboration with Grant Kightlinger of Pivotal Lighting Design, AEI’s in-house lighting studio, the installation blends lit and unlit BLOCK fixtures to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere while improving acoustics. Diffuse light engines provide soft, ambient illumination, while the unlit fixtures add depth and texture, making the ceiling a standout feature. With an NRC rating of 0.85+, BLOCK reduces noise and enhances comfort for meetings, collaboration, and everyday work.
