THE CUSTOMER
DB Schenker, with over 2,100 locations worldwide, is the leading provider of logistics world-wide, supporting industry and commerce in the global exchange of goods through land, air and sea transport, contract logistics and supply chain management. Integrated logistics resides at all major hubs of world trade, where the flow of goods creates an effective link between carri-ers. Value-added services ensure the seamless flow of goods and keep supply chains stream-lined and optimized for the best results. Our group holds leading positions in automotive, high tech, consumer goods, and logistics for trade shows, events, and special transportation.
DB SCHENKER IN ITALY
The Italian subsidiary covers 90% of the territory with 37 operating points, over 170,000 square meters of warehouses and more than 1,400 employees and can offer the full range of national and international transport services by land (truck, rail, intermodal), sea and air, as well as ad-vanced and tailor-made logistics solutions. As part of the Deutsche Bahn group of companies, Schenker pays attention to eco-system issues, identifying transport solutions that reduce, con-trol and, in some cases, eliminate CO2 emissions.
SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENT
As a pioneer in environmental protection, DB Schenker sets the standard for the efficient use of resources. The integrated system adopted enables the company to achieve the objectives set by the leadership, in the areas of quality, environment, health and safety and transport safety, and consequently to achieve maximum efficiency. The search for the highest levels of efficiency is not only related to the core business, but also in the design and management of real estate assets functional to the main operations, ensuring the highest standards in terms of environmental protection and well-being in the workplace.
DRAFT
DB Schenker Italia has begun development of a new multifunctional building for its Verona office. Located in the Interporto area, the new logistics hub covers an area of around 40,000 m2 and connects more than 20 destinations, the most important of which include Germany, Austria and France. The building, constructed in just 10 months by Engineering 2K Spa, consists of a 2,100 m2 office area and a single-bay wooden warehouse with 61 equipped loading bays covering an area of approximately 7,500 m2. The external area includes 80 parking spaces for cars, 10 parking spaces for trucks and 12 spaces for swap bodies. The main feature lies in its configu-ration that allows free movement without obstacles, thus enabling and optimizing cross-docking activities for import and export operations. The new logistics hub has been designed with sustainability in mind.
The rainwater recovery system is functional for the toilets and for the irrigation of green areas, thus avoiding the waste of precious resources such as water. The structure is also equipped with solar panels. The LED lighting system was designed by TRILUX Light Experts to ensure maximum energy sav-ings. The system, which is fully managed, activates lighting in areas used by employees, only when necessary. The new building has all the features to achieve "VERY GOOD" certification according to the BREEAM rating. As TRILUX, we are very proud to have contributed our solu-tions to this achievement. "The construction of the new hub in Verona has been a very im-portant project for us, and it is exciting to see it finally completed," says Francesca Tommasini, Manager of the Verona branch. "The facility was designed with great precision and a lot of at-tention to detail for both the warehouse and the offices, so the idea was to provide a pleasant and environmentally friendly environment for our employees."
INSTALLED SOLUTIONS
As the sole supplier, TRILUX developed a lighting proposal that offered standard and custom solutions that complemented each other perfectly. The outdoor areas and parking lots were illuminated with the 24,000-lumen dimmable JOVIE LED solution .Thanks to Multi Lens (MLTIQ) and Constant Light Output (CLO) technologies, it was possible to adapt JOVIE LED to the project specifications, providing a luminaire in the Smart Lighting Ready variant with Zhaga interfaces, ready to be integrated into the lighting management system.
The external lighting of access to the offices was entrusted, respectively, to the 8841 LED solutions for the pedestrian walkways and the LUTERA 200 LED recessed outdoor downlight for the area in front of the entrance.
The main façade of the building has been illuminated with 3 FACIELLA LED projectors of 4200 lumens, equipped with roto symmetrical optics specifically designed for the lighting of build-ings. The perimeter area of the logistics building has been equipped with 12,000 lumen Com-bial LED projectors.
The external covered areas in correspondence with the loading bays were illuminated with OLEVEON FIT LEDs with 2300 lumens. The same solution was used, in different power ratings, to light some of the internal areas of the logistics area.
The hall has been particularly well cared for, providing it with solutions of considerable aesthet-ic impact that give the environment a character of design and representation. The special Circle LED solution, complemented by recessed and suspended downlights from the SONNOS LED series, certainly stole the show. Stairs and service areas were illuminated with 74R series lu-minaires equipped with brightness, presence and emergency lighting sensors.
The offices, very bright thanks to the large windows, have been equipped with Valineo LED recessed fixtures in dimmable version and with glare factor according to UGR<19, suitable for environments with the use of video terminals in accordance with EN 12464-1.
For the logistics building, the continuous-row E-LINE NEXT LED with a 21,000-lumen package in a dimmable version and equipped with a MOR (Monitoring Ready) function was used. These luminaires, ideal for industrial and logistics buildings, are also suitable for use in the food and beverage industry, in companies certified according to the requirements of HACCP, version 6 of the IFS and/or version 7 of the BRC Global Standard Food.
