GAME, SET AND MATCH: NEW ZUMTOBEL GROUP FLOODLIGHTS FOR THE DORNBIRN TENNIS CLUB
The Zumtobel Group has equipped the TC Dornbirn tennis club with a new floodlight system and footpath lighting from its Thorn brand, which specialises, among other things, in lighting for sports. The precise illumination of the outdoor tennis courts with Altis LED floodlights by Thorn now meets all specific requirements of this sport and allows for longer games and training times in the autumn and winter. It will also be possible to play tournaments without any time pressure in the future.
'In the past, our games often had to be stopped early at the fall of darkness or when it was raining. With the new Thorn outdoor lighting we can now fully focus on the game and continue playing well into the evening hours if necessary.' — Linus Erhart, national league player at TC Dornbirn
Thorn floodlights meet requirements of high-precision lighting solution
Fast rallies require maximum concentration from the players: insufficient lighting is a strain on the eyes. Also, balls coming from above should not suddenly appear out of the dark or out of blinding light. The new floodlights offer the required precise illumination of the tennis courts without blinding the players or the audience. The light diffused onto neighbouring buildings is also reduced to a minimum.
Light level is automatically adjusted to darkness
The footpaths of the tennis courts are illuminated by Thorn’s Plurio post top lantern featuring the NightTune technology. This technology allows adjusting the light level and the colour temperature automatically to the corresponding time of night. NightTune is based on mixing light from warm and cold LEDs, which generates a more pleasant atmosphere, saves energy, guarantees a sense of safety and protects the nightly ecosystem.
TC Dornbirn
The Dornbirn tennis club gained more than 100 members in 2020 alone and is now one of the largest tennis clubs in western Austria with a total of 530 members. With the additional training possibilities thanks to the new lighting, the Dornbirn tennis club can now continue to meet the needs of is steadily growing number of members.
