PROJECT DETAILS
Munich’s first Hyperion Hotel opened in March 2019. The business hotel primarily caters for people travelling for business and offers the guests a special stay in a first-class interior.
Inspired by the Prinzregententheater, surrounded by grand buildings in the baroque style and framed by ancient lime trees, Prinzregentenplatz in Munich brings a touch of old-time elegance for the modern business travellers. Just a few minutes away, the modernity of the new Hyperion Hotel München awaits. The business hotel, opened in March 2019, has made its home in the newly designed Bogenhausener Tor urban development. Consisting of four towers, Bavaria Towers constitutes a new architectural highlight in the area.
The architecture firm Unykat, based in Wels, Austria, is not only responsible for the entire interior of the 4-star hotel, but also for the lighting concept, which was created together with LTS. H-Hotels AG operates the Hyperion Hotel München, one of the two BTI towers, while Swiss Life is the owner of the building.
Guests can stay in one of the 272 standard rooms or the 72 panoramic rooms that are offered to guests with premium requirements. A warm welcome is extended right from the lobby, because this is where guests are made to feel at home, or not, in just the first few seconds. For this reason, a particularly high-quality and appealing interior has been designed in the entrance area and the lobby.
The lighting divides the very open space into clear areas, using direct and indirect light, downlights, long suspended decorative luminaires or cove lighting in the wall. The structure of the reception, special dining area, bar and lobby is created by the lighting concept. Light-shadow effects, different beam angles and colour temperatures, as well as high-contrast illumination, make for a varied visual experience. Apart from decorative elements, the designers consciously didn’t want to make a feature of the luminaires. This led to a choice in favour of the new Dallton spotlight series, which modestly and subtly integrates into the entire interior.
In the restaurant, all luminaires are DALI-controlled and, with a high colour rendering value and warm white colour temperature, they create a relaxed atmosphere for guests to eat and enjoy themselves. The recessed downlights Flixx 300 Flat Round have been used in the corridors of the upper floors, proving to be particularly suitable for the limited recess depths there. The downlights Flixx 100 Round are used at the entrances to the rooms to create targeted spots and allow the guests to more easily find their way. Flixx 100 has also been installed in the room and in the bathroom to give the lighting concept a consistent design. Two colour temperatures (2,700 K and 3,000 K) were used depending on the different materials.
