Jesi, in the Marche, is traditionally an industrial town, but its foundation dates to ancient times. It conserves an old centre surrounded by a virtually intact city wall. An episode of great historical importance took place in Jesi. On 26 December 1194, Costanza di Altavilla was travelling towards Palermo to join her husband Henry VI, Emperor of Germany, who had been crowned King of Sicily the day before. As she was passing close to Jesi, Costanza d’Altavilla went into labour and gave birth, in an imperial tent in the central piazza of the city, to the future Emperor Frederick II.

With a project by the GSM Studio Associato of Milan, the illumination of Jesi has been completely renewed with Light 803 lanterns in the old town centre, Polaris immediately beside the walls and Lyra in the approach avenue to the Arco Clementino. The 803 lanterns have been mounted partly on restored original brackets and partly on Tabit brackets.

Polaris has been mounted on overhead wires in the streets surrounding the town alongside the old walls.

Lyra has replaced the former globes in the approach road to Jesi that terminates at the Arco Clementino.
