PROJECT DETAILS
When Legendary Entertainment renovated a twelfth floor office space in Burbank, California, the company aimed to develop a unique environment incorporating its distinctive corporate feel. As a leader in media and television, with blockbusters such as 300, Godzilla and Jurassic World to its name, Legendary required a space that reflected its strong brand and the entertainment industry it represents.
Architects of Felderman Keatinge + Associates were the creative minds behind the unique office space renovation, with lighting design by Archit Jain of Oculus Light Studio. Repetition of curved forms, which is typical in other Legendary offices, was carried over to the twelfth floor space in Burbank, but in a slightly different way. Instead of the archetypal Legendary logo entrance, the new Burbank office delivers a unique feel, greeting associates with an innovative, curving wall threshold. In line with the standard Legendary office aesthetic of round downlights, architecture and lighting complement one another with recurring circular shapes throughout the space.
To achieve the desired lighting effect, Zumtobel DIAMO and ONDARIA luminaires were chosen for their performance and design qualities. At the office entry, small diameter DIAMO wallwashers are integrated within the coves, gently washing the curved walls with light, while the fixtures remain invisible. In a similar manner, DIAMO is used inside offices and throughout public areas, minimizing the presence of the fixture, while providing 1200 lumens of high-quality light.
In the café and open kitchen area, where the ceilings transition from an exposed structure to gypsum board, Zumtobel’s ONDARIA luminaires were selected to unify the space. ONDARIA is installed in surface-mount and pendant versions, with custom colors of gray and varying shades of green that create a fresh vibe. With its wide, homogeneous light distribution, ONDARIA provides ample light for the space while serving as a decorative element, creating focal areas with its colorful finishes.
Successful completion of the project was made possible through close collaboration with Light Build Design.
