PROJECT DETAILS
A specially designed urban luminaire
In 2005, ateljé Lyktan began working with Kristianstad Municipality on a specially designed urban luminaire. Adorned with "C4", the town's coat of arms, in brass, the luminaire communicates pride and a unique artistic expression.
The light in the top of the lamp is controlled via wireless DMX and the light in the luminaire is diffused via microprismatic acrylic glass to flow over the town's streets and squares through the clear glass shade.
Town of Christian
Kristianstad was founded in 1614 by King Christian IV of Denmark, the city's name literally means 'Town of Christian'. "C4", the town's coat of arms, is frequently used as an abbreviation for the city.
The Orange City
Kristianstad became Swedish with the peace in Roskilde in 1658 when Denmark lost Skåne to Sweden. Many memorials are connected to the time when Kristianstad was Danish and was a modern fortification city. In the middle of the 19th century, the fortifications were demolished, the fortifications were filled and replaced by tree-lined boulevards according to patterns from Paris and a trading town began to emerge. Then why is the city orange? Because of the city's colourful handball team.
