PROJECT DETAILS
The 100th birthday and Leeuwarden being European Capital of Culture in 2018 were the motivators of a major renovation of Princesshof National Museum of Ceramics Princessehof.
It resulted in a modern interior discretely embedded in the monumental building, which dates back to the 18th century.
The design features an entrance hall, the museum store with a tearoom, museum square and exhibition areas for the vast collections.
The tearoom features vibrant colors, juxtaposing the grey tones of the museum store, which bring the focus of the attention to the products.
More so, is the transition from the contemporary entrance area to the monumental museum square a surprising metamorphosis.
The conceptual architectural approach leads to a timeless design, contrasting textures and colors giving space airiness and making exhibitions the focal point.
