PROJECT DETAILS
Smart light for every type of weather
Everybody knows the problem: Wet streets at night can create nasty reflections and blinding glare. But it does not have to be that way. The first SITECO Light-Switch pilot project that uses weather-adaptive light is under way in the Swiss city of Richterwil. The integrated Light-Switch function enables the installed Streetlights SL 11 to ideally adjust their light to wet road conditions if sensors report that rain has begun to fall. The right level of uniformity is restored and glare minimized when streets turn wet.
The project is being assisted by Jörg Haller, from the energy provider Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich. Haller is Switzerland’s major visionary regarding the potential and future of light. The new system also fits perfectly into Richterswil’s smart city strategy. Smart light for a “smart village!”
