PROJECT DETAILS
The Saarpolygon on the Duhamel mining heap in Ensdorf is a symbol for the profound change in the region. Already from a distance of several kilometres the large-scale walk-on sculpture by the Berlin-based architects Katja Pfeiffer and Oliver Sachse is clearly visible. The impressive landmark at the same time is a sightseeing tower with a panoramic view into the surrounding Saar valley. At darkness, a total of 200 metre LED light inserts of the LEDLUX LH linear type trace the fascinating architecture giving an especially filigree effect. Thus, the optical effect of the landmark remains overwhelming also at night. The LED light inserts were placed according to the requirements of the light planner Raul Hesse from the Berlin-based planning office Lichtvision. With his lighting concept based on the Insta LED solution Hesse succeeds to model the sculpture with an extraordinary plasticity at night. At day the luminaires are almost invisible. Once more the LEDLUX linear LH system could demonstrate its advantages due to the integrated power supply units: The direct connection of the filigree modules to the 230 V mains voltage allowed a fast and easy installation and keeps the openly designed sculpture optically free from obstructing supply boxes.
