SALINE ROYALE D'ARC-ET-SENANS

The Royal Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1982, represents a former salt factory constructed at the behest of King Louis XV between 1775 and 1779. As a remarkable work by the visionary architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux, it stands as a unique testament in the history of industrial architecture.
The primary objective of this project was to accentuate each building through effective lighting. ADONIS ARCHITECTURAL luminaires were chosen based on their photometry, technical performance, and aesthetic features, with a consistent color temperature of 3,000 Kelvin established for the entire lighting scheme.
Each of the eleven independent buildings forming a semicircle around the expansive courtyard was equipped with individualized lighting. This allowed the lighting designer to determine the number of luminaires, their intensity settings, and position them precisely to achieve desired effects of uniform illumination and contrasting forms. After installation, on-site adjustments were made for each building in collaboration with the client.
The lighting programming is straightforward: all architectural lighting circuits are activated at dusk and, in harmony with the preservation of biodiversity, deactivated at midnight. Naturally, there is the option to modify the shutdown schedule for special festive occasions.
