PROJECT DETAILS
A lively part of the city
In Trieste, Italy, just one step to the west from the Intra lightings' hometown, the Slovenian Book Center has crossed the borders of a typical bookshop, becoming a lively part of the city, hosting different social and cultural events.
Symbolic ties are important to the Slovenian minority living in Trieste inspired the design of the bookshelves and the remarkable composition in the space. The pattern of the bookshelves derives from the facade decoration of the national Hall, designed by the famous Slovenian architect Max Fabiani in 1904. Redesigned in a modern structure, the famous pattern helps to create an inviting and fresh look.
Pipes R gave the right visibility of the shelves and helped to create a warm atmosphere. To support different functionalities of the space, different lighting scenarios were created for a day, evening and night illumination (the bookstore interacts with the outside), allowing it to be efficient yet attractive anytime.
