A football pitch created with light: Superology uses lighting to showcase its brand
A place where sport, the joy of participation, the creative spirit, and an enthusiasm for digital solutions meet is also a place in which light can be reimagined.
In the new headquarter of technology company Superology in Zagreb, Zumtobel luminaires play a part in showcasing the brand. The features created by the Zumtobel lighting designers include a football pitch, an athletics track and a basketball net made of light.
In addition to the visual features, Superology was also provided with premium quality work and safety lighting – with the option of controlling the complex lighting system independently.
As sport software experts, Superology bring sports betting and games to your smartphone – they are pioneers of digitalisation and gamification in sport. The technology company took a similarly interconnected approach to the lighting of its new offices. Zumtobel's challenge was to create a lighting solution that combines maximum lighting quality, individual design and independent operability. To achieve this, Zumtobel's lighting designers equipped various rooms with customised lighting concepts inspired by different sports. They also created a sophisticated lighting management system, which allows Superology to independently control dimmable luminaires and privacy screen systems, and to create different lighting scenarios with LITECOM infinity. Zumtobel Services allowed the lighting specialists to offer project design of general and emergency lighting and turnkey delivery from a single source.
Enthusiastic brand presence
'After collaborating with the architect and the interior designers it was decided to emphasise the company's passion for sport by using spaces to represent different games. In close consultation with Brigada, we designed a basketball room and a football room, as well as a reception modelled on an athletics track.' — Dinko Huljev, lighting designer at Zumtobel
From a basketball net to a football pitch
In the basketball room, Zumtobel used the LINARIA as a pendant luminaire, with light lines in different lengths creating the pattern of a basketball net. In the football room, SLOTLIGHT infinity slim and round ONDARIA pendant luminaires were used to represent the outlines of a typical football pitch – including the penalty area and centre line. In the lobby, an athletics track was created using the light line LINARIA in combination with a 3-phase track.
'Our lighting concept ties in directly with Superology's corporate philosophy and brand essence. This has made a lasting impression on the customer.' — Denis Biškup, Brand Manager Indoor & New Business Development CEE at Zumtobel
Perfect conditions for VDU work
Another key point of the collaboration was the luminaires' mix of excellent glare control and attractive design. After all, a large part of the work at Superology is carried out on screens, and the employees need optimal conditions in order to prevent eye strain. For the challenging visual tasks, Zumtobel installed LIGHT FIELDS III as pendant luminaires in the staff offices, as well as the SLOTLIGHT infinity slim.
The general lighting in the offices is provided by the PANOS infinity downlights. Individual meeting rooms are fitted with the pared-back VAERO pendant luminaires, while the management offices are equipped with the minimalist LINETIK free-standing luminaires.
The hallways of the office building are illuminated by the VIVO M spotlights on 3-phase tracks and the PANOS infinity downlights as pendant luminaires. The PANOS infinity downlights are also used in the bathrooms – and presence-controlled with the ED-SENSmultisensor. The moisture- and dust-resistant Aquaforce Pro luminaire from Thorn is installed in the storerooms, while safety lighting is provided by the RESCLITE PRO.
Employees become light managers
It was particularly important to Superology to be able to manage the light independently.
'Employees have full access to the lighting infrastructure not only in the individual offices, but also in the hallways and in the communal multi-purpose rooms. The luminaires can be adjusted according to the time of day and individual needs.' — Denis Biškup, Brand Manager Indoor & New Business Development CEE at Zumtobel
Whether dimming/brightening, selecting light colour or operating lighting and privacy systems: the LITECOM infinity lighting management system can do it all, with the help of the CIRIA touchscreens installed in the management offices. The keyboard-based CIRCLE KIT control system is used in all the other rooms. The system uses tunableWhite to bring changing colour temperatures and the dynamics of natural light to Superology's premises.
A one-stop shop for all lighting services
From the initial idea to successful commissioning and turnkey handover, Zumtobel Services provided the lighting solution for Superology from a single source, true to the promise: "You take care of your core business, we take care of the rest."
Light creates a distinctive brand identity
Lighting quality, design, creativity and ease of use: the project in Zagreb shows that those who dare to reimagine light can create surprising and customised solutions. The smart, digital lighting concept for Superology shows both the customer's premises and their brand essence in the best light.
