PROJECT DETAILS
THE FARNAM HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN OMAHA, NEBRASKA IS INSPIRED BY THE CITY’S CREATIVE AND ENTREPRENEURIAL PAST. IT BRINGS SLEEK SPACES WITH INDUSTRIAL CHARM AND CONTEMPORARY STYLE FOR A LUXURIOUS ATMOSPHERE WHICH MATCHES THE EXCITEMENT OF THE CITY. PRECIOSA LIGHTING WAS PLEASED TO WORK WITH THE GETTYS GROUP, CHICAGO TO CREATE LIGHTING FOR NEARLY EVERY SPACE IN THE HOTEL.
The brief here was comprehensive: lighting was needed for the hotel’s public areas, front desk, lobby, restaurant, ballrooms, pre-function space, corridors, and wine cellar. The lighting fit the Gettys Group design vision of modern, local, and exciting. The reception area includes a white, square metal installation featuring dimmable LED strips. The fixture gives a nod to another important part of the hotel; the creative exhibits regularly held in the lobby. Preciosa created a special light with an adjustable frame that holds a painting. The adjustable frame means the artwork can be changed. The lobby bar features a curve of slumped glass for a contemporary look over the blonde wood bar.
In the Dynamite Woodfire Grill restaurant, the décor is warm and welcoming. Preciosa created a large lighting installation highlighting these warm vibes. Five round discs, each nearly two metres in diameter are highlighted by an aged patina surface finish on the outside and champagne brass finish on the inside. A second notable lighting fixture in the restaurant features a metal pendant consisting of three parts. Five inner pendants with hand-blown opal frosted glass spheres are surrounded by metal mesh rings. Curved metal segments attached to the ceiling fan out around the fixture. This gives the light a completely different look and feel during the day and at night. The wine cellar features a series of metal rings with a wood-coloured surface finish and dimmable LED strips. The Preciosa team created a wood-coloured finish that looks so authentic it’s hard to believe the lighting isn’t formed from real wood. They are reminiscent of wine barrels and hang consecutively through the space.
Sparkles were brought into the ballroom with three lighting fixtures embedded in ceiling niches. The fixtures are minimalistic with simple polished gold frames and white bulbs. Additional Preciosa lighting can be found around the property (lovely marble lamps with linen shades and a champagne finish) and corridor floor lamps featuring a wooden table with tempered glass surface, a black matte metal frame and hand-blown opal glass shades.
