PROJECT DETAILS
Built in 1902, The Mill at Mississippi State University was more than just a textile factory; it was a catalyst for progress.
As the first building to bring electricity to the area, the light bulbs on the mill’s work floor shined brightly through the windows each night.
A powerhouse of the cotton textile industry, The Mill blazed trails, electrifying not just Starkville, but the imaginations of a region. Decades later, its heart continued to beat as the town’s central hub, and in 1975, The Mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
MSU has since unveiled a spectacular dynamic façade lighting system, provided by Traxon e:cue, that elevates The Mill’s beauty and presence on the edge of campus. Care was taken to enhance, but not overpower, the original architecture of red brick and soaring windows. Now home to MSU’s Division of Development and Alumni, as well as a sought-after event space, The Mill stands as a testament to innovation, blending history with cutting-edge technology while continuing to shine nightly.
