Thysse Corporate Headquarters Takes Their Branding to New Heights
Incorporating suspended custom luminaires creates a holistic brand experience for employees, customers, and visitors of their award winning facility
Thysse (pronounced Tie – See) is a third generation, family-owned company founded in 1941. Headquartered in Oregon, Wisconsin, the talented team at Thysse is dedicated to bringing their customers brands to life. Thysse has created organizational branding and identity development to a broad array of clients over the years. So when they set out to build a new campus, they saw a huge opportunity to showcase their talents by creating a visual experience that showcased their inventiveness and brand expertise in a highly visible way.
Executing a Brand Vision
To support this vision, Thysse partnered with Madison-based OPN Architects to design their new corporate headquarters. Knowing how important the brand identity was, it became the core of the overall design of the project. Keeping that in mind, the final build features both bold and subtle features throughout the space inside and out. The finishes and furnishings chosen all compliment the intent behind the architectural choices visually communicating the passion behind the Thysse brand to new and existing clients. Motifs throughout the facility are inspired by the site and adjacent marsh highlighting the company’s rich history and growth over the last eight decades. The Thysse logo features a backdrop reminiscent of topography which was integrated into the lighting design and seen across the entire facility through key visuals and finishes.
iLight’s Plexineon luminaries became an important element in executing the overall design concept.
“Working closely with the Thysse design team we wanted to create opportunities for brand integration throughout the building and in multiple mediums. This included art installations, history displays, custom wallcoverings, glass films, signage and lighting”, said Ryan Frank, Architect at OPN Architects. “The lobby presented itself with an opportunity to do something unique and playful with the lighting and our vision was to recreate the brand’s topography waves across the ceiling making iLight Plexineon the perfect solution to use for the suspended waves.”
The Flexibility of Plexineon
Plexineon factory bendable luminaires feature a thin, vibrant line of light making it a perfect solution to suspend the accent lighting waves in the corporate lobby. iLight manufactured and bent the luminaries to spec in its Cookeville, TN factory maintaining the brand integrity of the waves in the Thysse logo without the need for an additional support structure. The team at iLight also supplied the suspension hardware making it a complete system for ease of installation. This made an otherwise complex accent lighting design project both affordable and simple to execute onsite.
Ryan Frank of OPN Architects went on to say, “We selected iLight because of their ability to configure the graphic layout to complement the Thysse logo as we intended. The luminaires also provide quite a bit of illumination to the space without any glare supporting a comfortable and inviting space. They were also able to construct the layout as intended and locate the power supplies for ease of installation by the electrical contractor. We were thrilled with the results as was the customer”.
OPN Architects success on the project was recently recognized by the industry. The overall project was awarded 1st place in 2021 by IIDA Wisconsin in the Corporate (over 25,000 sf) category.
