PROJECT DETAILS
Located in the heritage-listed Drechsler Palace, the W Hotel Budapest blends historical grandeur with contemporary comfort. The lighting concept plays a central design role: it supports the rhythmic architecture and highlights the new interior design language without drawing attention to itself.
In the entrance and corridor areas, VENUS is vertically integrated. The luminaire follows the geometry of the arches and emphasizes spatial depth through warm light gradients. In the spa area, VENUS is installed along the outer edge of the pool, contributing to the atmospheric staging with elegant lines and a high protection rating suitable for humid environments.
At the reception, VENUS provides soft, glare-free illumination beneath the counters. This is complemented by cove lighting with XOOLINE™ IP40, which gently highlights the transition to the ceiling and enhances the sense of spatial depth. The combination lends the reception area a sense of elegant lightness.
In the bar and restaurant areas, XOOLINE™ IP40 is used selectively – beneath the bar counter and in ceiling coves. The warm white light creates a pleasant ambient brightness and supports the overall design. The illuminated arches in the restaurant and the surrounding profiles in the seating area are accentuated with VENUS.
The entire lighting concept is based on the careful integration of high-quality LED technology – energy-efficient, durable, and in harmony with the listed architecture. The result is a dynamic interplay between historical substance and contemporary lighting aesthetics.
For this project, the W Hotel Budapest was honored with the Lighting Design Award in the category "Winner in Hospitality Lighting“.
