PROJECT DETAILS
Atmospheric lighting in a historic ambience
Visitors who wander through the corridors and vaults of the Residenzweinkeller in Würzburg today will discover one of the most beautiful wine cellars in the world. In 1981, UNESCO declared the vaulted cellars, together with the Residenz above them, a World Heritage Site. The vaults consist of walls up to five metres thick and were built by Balthasar Neumann together with the Residenz from 1720-1744. In the north wing is the cellar with about 300 wooden barrels that can hold about 700,000 litres.
In this historical ambience, the TOCCATA pendant luminaire by SATTLER with a diameter of 1.9 m sets an additional accent and unfolds its character of the modern interpretation of a chandelier in the centuries-old vault. The noble surface of the aluminium profile powder-coated in gold harmonises perfectly with the earthy surrounding colour tones.
In addition, the linear pendant luminaires of the PALADIO series, suspended in a row just below the vaulted ceiling, provide dimmable direct as well as indirect lighting. The warm white light of the over 10 m long luminaire and its filigree profile of 35 mm x 70 mm ideally complement the lighting concept.
